The founder of Script Sculptress is Melisa Malvin-Middleton.
Melisa has worked in the entertainment industry for many years. She has performed development, marketing, public relations, casting, production coordination, consulting, and script coverage services. Her industry background includes work in film, television, theatre, commercials, and corporate videos. Additionally, Melisa has designed and developed websites for actors and photographers.
While employed by Ventura Films, she worked for director Nick Cassavetes on the film Unhook the Stars and wrote script coverage for actor Charlie Sheen. With Eleventh Day Entertainment, she participated in projects for CBS, TNT, Andrew Solt Productions, Buckley Friedman Advertising, Brainyard Advertising, and the Department of Defense. She has also developed corporate video presentations for Aon Services Group events.
Currently, Melisa teaches writing at California State University, Northridge and College of the Canyons. She is also a playwright, poet, and singer-songwriter. Her most recent collection of poetry, Hover the Bones, is available at Amazon.com from Yak Press. Her poetry has appeared in Silver Birch Press, Quail Bell Magazine, Rogue Agent, and Angel City Review, among others. Recently, scenes from her play Sad-Eyed Serenity were performed at the Los Angeles Theatre Center by Savage Players. Fresh Produce’d, L.A. and the Actors’ Theatre in Santa Cruz have also performed selections of her plays. She recently read her poetry at the National Popular Culture/American Culture Association (PCA/ACA) conferences in San Diego and Seattle and presented her creative nonfiction and poetry at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) conference in Atlanta. Her academic writing on Hanif Kureshi’s The Buddha of Suburbia was presented at the Southwest Popular Culture/American Culture Association conference in Albuquerque and at the Sigma Tau Delta Conference in L.A.
She has an M.A. in English from CSUN with an emphasis on creative writing and a B.A. in English with a Theatre minor also from CSUN.
Member of The Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights (ALAP) and The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
